June Paper Pumpkin Wreath

I'm still finding ways to use June's Paper Pumpkin kit.  I had 24 of those super cute little pin wheels to work with and I still have some left!  All the ideas!  This time I decided to add some of them to a regular ole' grapevine wreath I got from my local craft store.  This wreath will actually be auctioned off (with a basket of Stampin' Up! goodies) at a fundraiser I'm attending on Friday for a friend of ours trying to raise money for adoption costs.  If you live in the Baltimore, MD area and want to support a great cause and bid on the SU goodies I will have there you can see all the details on the Facebook Event.  Just look up Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser for Kirk and Kristen Deist's Adoption Fund.  It's this Friday, June 27th at 6pm in Baltimore, MD.
I only used 5 pinwheels at the bottom of the wreath.  I assembled them as the instructions showed and hot glued them right to the wreath.
The other two pinwheels were added with hot glue also, but I used the stick part to hand the "America" banner from.  Although I usually do not include retired product in my projects, I did use our Alphabet Die that just recently retired for the "America".  You could easily use the new Perfect Print Alphabet Bigz Die in the new Annual Catalog for a similar effect, item #133725.

Hope to see you at the fundraiser this Friday!

Bloom with Hope Birthday

The Hostess sets this year are ALL amazing!  Every single one of them!  Bloom with Hope is definitely one of my favorites from the whole catalog though.  I love flowers so it's a shoe in!
I used Blender Pens to color the flowers.  I love combining the Circle Punches or Circle Framelits with Window Frame Framelits.  I think it gives it such interest without much effort.
Another cool tip to increase the interest in a card is to use the same color ink as paper and create a 'background' with another stamp from the same set.
I also stamped the inside of the card on Very Vanilla Card Stock to continue the look throughout the card.
Remember that this is a hostess set and there are two ways to get it.  Place a personal $150 order OR get some of your friends together for a little stampin' fun and have a party!  If you live in my immediate area I would love to be your demonstrator and get together for an in home party.  If you are long distance, that's not problem!  We can do a long distance book party as well!  Contact me HERE if you want to earn this awesome stamp set just by having some fun!

Rainbow Fringe Birthday

Today marks the actual birthday of my first born, Abby.  She's 5 today...how did that happen?!  Hard to believe she will be starting Kindergarten in the fall this year.  Just yesterday she was this precious little 7 pound bundle of love and now she's blossoming to a beautiful little girl with opinions and interests of her own.
I designed this card to coordinate with the theme of her birthday party which was My Little Pony, specifically Rainbow Dash.  If you saw my previous post you have seen her adorable cake and decorations that all coordinated with the rainbow them.
This card can be ready to go in a matter of minutes and certainly packs a wow punch.
Fringe scissors are the bomb!  You can do anything from ombre techniques like this one to paper flowers with them.  I just took strips of paper that measured 1 1/2" X 4 1/4" and trimmed about 3/4 of the way up with my Fringe Scissors leaving about a 1/4" to 1/2" space left.  Adhere a strip of SNAIL to the back of each of the strips layering them up the card in a rainbow pattern.  You can put them as close together or far apart as you like.  I stamped the top in Soft Suede ink from the set Four You at the top and wrapped the card with a long piece of White Baker's Twine.
If you noticed the card base it isn't Crumb Cake...do you know what it is?  If you have looked through the catalog a few times you probably recognize it...it's Kraft Card Stock!  That's right!  Stampin' Up! now carries it!  It comes in 12" X 12" sheets and I absolutely love it!

Now off to spend some quality time with my sweet princess before she grows up..

My Little Pony Party

Abby's Birthday Bash!
It's hard to believe that my baby girl is 5.  She's my first...so each year gets harder.  This year is especially hard because this fall she starts Kindergarten.  When did that happen!?  That was the fastest 5 years of my life!  This year she wanted to have a My Little Pony themed party and I happily obliged!  My Little Pony is one of my favorites from when I was a little girl.  I decided to try and simplify the decorating a bit by going with a rainbow theme that went with Rainbow Dash of course!  This AMAZING cake was made by a super talented and dear friend of mine, Laura Mileski.   You can CLICK HERE to visit her Facebook page to see all of the beautiful cakes she has made!  I wish I had taken a picture of the inside, it was layered rainbow too!  If you live in the South Central PA area I highly recommend her!

I decided to do a simple banner to top the cake alongside Rainbow Dash.
I used 2 long lollipop sticks with a string of Bermuda Bay Baker's Twine between to hold the banner pieces.  The paper is perfect and from the Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper.  The letters are from the old Alphabet Bigz Dies that just retired, but I couldn't sell them, they come in way to handy!  Hold up those sweet little banners with our Metallic Mini Clothespins and it's a cute accent for the cake.  I tied the bows on the ends with the new Cotton Ribbon in Daffodil Delight.  So soft and easy to use, loving this new addition to the catalog!
No party is complete without fun party food.  Although we had a BBQ, I wanted there to be a few foods to entertain people while they waited.  The fruit skewered rainbow above was inspired by Pinterest, of course!  It made a beautiful rainbow of fruit and was a huge hit with the kids.

Another Pinterest inspired idea were the Rainbow Haybales and Rainbow Candy Bar that was complete with pony tails and unicorn horns.  The adorable little card that sat in front of the food was created with MDS, Stampin' Up!'s digital software.  Click for more information about MDS HERE.

One of our twins is a Celiac, so he cannot have gluten.  I always make him gluten free cupcakes whenever we have a celebration to attend or one at home so he feels just like the other kids at cake time.  These cupcakes were frosted with Rainbow Dash blue tinted frosting and adorned with a super simple Cupcake Topper created with the new set, Something to Say and that Sweet Taffy DSP.

The favors were one of my favorite parts.  I made 15 of these super cute fry boxes using the new Fry Box Die in the new Catalog.  I stuffed them full of toy goodies and attached a piece of ribbon with Rainbow Dash attached to the tag.  The kids loved choosing one of these from the basket before they left.

The "For you" sentiment is actually from the Honeycomb Hello stamp set.  It's made to coordinate with the Honeycomb framelit, which of course it does, but I also discovered that it works beautifully with the Banner Punhch!  Lots of those images in that set fit in the Banner Punch.

I hope you all enjoyed seeing these creations as much as Abby enjoyed her party!

Sea Street Sketch

Each month I have the privilege of creating a Sketch Challenge for a group of demonstrators.  We use sketch challenges as a creative way to create cards without thinking about the layout.  Makes it easier sometimes when you can just look at a layout someone else created and put your own spin on it with your favorite stamp set.  This month's sketch was a fun one!  I used Sea Street for my version.  I am in love with that cute little crab!  If you have the Banner Punch from Sale-a-Bration this year (you can also order it now if you didn't choose it as a free choice) that sweet little crab and lobster will fit!  Ideas, ideas!
I have been finding lots of uses for the Bravo stamp set.  It has been my 'go to' sentiment set here lately.  The fact that it's photopolymer makes it so easy to get the perfect placement.
Here is the original sketch I created.  I would LOVE to see what you can come up with!!
