Pretty Packages

When it comes to gifts, we all know that packaging is everything!  You want to show the ones you love that you care just as much about what's inside as you do on their first impression, right?!
This box is super easy to put together and a good size for a lot of things, but will fit handmade cards and envelopes beautifully!

The belly band keeps this box closed and adding a 'thumb space' will help your recipient open your beautiful box to see what's inside even easier.

Made of our Under the Tree Specialty Designer Series Paper, this cardstock is extra heavy and perfect for box making.  So here's how to make it!

You will need:
Card Stock measuring 12" X 8" for the box
Card Stock measuring 1" X 12" for the belly band

With your box card stock in portrait orientation (8" accross the top of your Simply Scored) score it at 1", then rotate 180 degrees and score at 1" again.  So each side should have a 1" score mark
Then in landscape orientation score it at 1" and 5 1/2" on both sides.
Cut up on all of your score lines and trim out a small triangle to help your box go together better.  This step isn't necessary, but it does help your box fit snug and look good.
Place Sticky Strip on your tabs, and bring up the sides to create your box.  Before you attach the top of the box, be sure to punch out your thumb hole.  You can do it after, but it's much easier before you assemble the box.  I used the 1 3/8" circle punch but any circle or oval punch will work just fine.

The belly band is simply just bent around the box and attached with sticky strip.  You want it to be snug around your box, but not so tight you can't easily slide it off.

The sentiment is from Mingle All the Way and stamped in Garden Green on Kraft Card Stock.  I popped that image up on a 2 3/8" Red Glimmer Paper.  I sponged the edges of the box and belly band with White Craft Ink.

What would you put in this box?
