I saw this technique done by fellow demonstrator Susan Campfield and it was love at first sight! She used the medium sized butterfly instead of this large one, but it was her card that inspired me to give this a try! It's probably my favorite choice for the simple fact that I love the emboss resist technique and this just makes it a breeze!
To create this card you will need the following paper:
Whisper White 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
Whisper White 5 1/4" X 4
Irresistibly Yours Paper 5" X 3 3/4"
With the piece of Whisper White that measures 5 1/4" X 4 use your Big Shot to cut out the largest butterfly being sure to center it. This piece will serve not only as your butterfly cut out, but as the 'window' piece that will show the Irresistibly Yours paper underneath.
Now take a sponge or sponge dauber and your Tempting Turquoise classic Ink and color in the piece of Irresistibly Yours Paper. Add some extra interest to your butterfly by adding more color to either side of the paper, letting the center of your butterfly be lighter. You can also use a spritzer, a brayer, an Aqua Painter or even the ink pad itself to color the Irresistibly Yours Paper.
Once your paper is dry, use SNAIL adhesive to adhere it to the 'window' piece of Whisper White card stock. Then use Dimensionals on the back of that piece to adhere it to the front of the card.
With Glue Dots behind the body of the butterfly, place it in the center right back in place of where it was cut out. The wings of the butterfly should naturally curl up just a bit giving this beautiful card even more dimension and interest.
Last but not least you can put your favorite sentiment on the inside. I use a lot of thank you cards, and this Watercolor Thank You stamp is one of my all time faves and seemed perfect for this card.
